Along with emotional experiences come physical sensations. When we’re anxious we may have a tight chest or cramps in our stomach. When feeling sad, we may get a lump in our throat, or have headaches during times of stress.
This shows us that our emotions are as much in the body as they are in the mind and working somatically (focusing on the body) enables you to connect with yourself as a whole.
Somatic tracking teaches you to observe bodily sensations that arise with emotions and I will guide you to a place where you can feel and observe those sensations through a lens of safety. This retrains the primitive brain and nervous system to experience these sensations and emotions as safe.
Alongside somatic tracking I’ll also use grounding techniques, breathwork and guided visualisations to regulate and calm your nervous system.
I’ve worked successfully with clients using mind/body techniques to help them connect with and process emotions linked to trauma. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, anger, sadness, shame, guilt or others who just want to be more present with themselves.
Mind / body practices support your primitive brain and nervous system to feel safe when memories, emotions and physical sensations arise; moving your nervous system from fight, flight or freeze into a more regulated state.
